Located just off the beautiful Gold Coast, the Diplomat Golf and Tennis Club sprawls across a lush terrain covered with thousands of coconut and Royal palms. Towering banyans provide shade throughout the golf course as well. Although it is a public course, it has the look and feel of a private club. It has been a staple of the south Florida community since opening in 1957. The layout features interesting hole designs that incorporate raised greens framed by contoured mounding and more than 75 strategically placed sand bunkers. The water features are hard to miss seeing as they come into play on all but two holes. The golf course is a challenge but not too intimidating for less experienced players. The beautiful scenery alone will be well worth the round.

Plush course...a must if in the area
I have passed this course when visiting from out of town and each time I would look over and say one day I'll actually play here. Well this time I did. The course is in great shape. There are a few challenging holes, but overall all not too difficult of a course. The staff is extremely friendly. You'll pull up and have the option of either self parking or valet. They take your clubs around to the back and place them in your cart. After you check in you can grab some clubs and head to the driving range (included). They even provided us with bottles of water, which were placed in our cooler filled with ice. The carts have GPS and alert you of inclement weather (we had about a 20 minute stoppage - typical south Florida weather). The course drains real well. The greens were a comfortable speed. You could order food from the carts, and the cart girl will bring them to your location. There really isn't a bad thing to say about this course. After your round, the wipe the top of your clubs off and bring them back around front. I went through GolfNow and booked my tee time a week in advance. It only cost $49 plus fees, so a great deal for such a nice course. I will definitely play it again. I also enjoyed the wildlife...lots of Iguanas and a fox.
Greens
Course layout was great; however, I wish I didn't have to putt on punched greens. Every putt was bumpy and slow.
This course has excellent features
It is wroth the money, if I could I would not mind playing this course 4 times a week
Bad service
Service was awful. The valet attendant was rude and disrespectful. And when I asked for directions to the pro shop he told me "inside". Like that was an obvious
Beautiful Fast Greens ...
Imposing facilities and first class staff treatment. Excellent course conditions although I did find the greens a bit fast. Water came into play but not that much. The last Par 5 is a delicious and sinuous challenge...
Similar toTunberry
First time I played here. I found that the course had a striking similarity to both Turnberry Isle's courses. Greens have bee aireated at the end of June, but the ball rolls very smoothly (in some of them you wouldn't notice).
I liked it a lot!!!
Beautiful course
I wouldn't pay full price to pay here, but if you can get a cheap rate on golfnow I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys playing golf. Conditions were great, greens were in good shape, it even rained for a little and after the course drained very well.
Awesome Course
Love this place it is just a pleasure to play at the Diplomat. Amenities are fabulous as well.
Excellent resort-style course
This course was an excellent course with top-notch service. The course had been aerated a few days earlier and had a bit of sand on the greens but otherwise was in great shape (plus the rate was around $40, discounted for aeration).
The staff was incredibly friendly. I had to be somewhere right after golf and needed to change/shower. They let me use the locker room as if I was a member at a private club.
High-touch service the entire way.
I began on 10 as the first tee had a couple of groups and I was a single. I ended up skipping 1 on the turn as they put a very slow threesome out in front of me as I came around. Doing so allowed me to play in about 2 hr, 45 mins.
I will be back next time I am in south Florida.
Fun day of Golf
I recently visited Ft. Lauderdale for a golf weekend with friends. This was the first time that we played this course and it was magnificent. The course layout was excellent as well as the conditions. I will definitely return.
Great conditions
Challenging Layout, lots of water in play in almost all holes. Greens in perfect condition.
Good day at the Diplomat
Excellent course, and in very good shape. Pleasant staff. Good pace. No issues.
First Time
The course has a very nice layout. Many challenging approach shots over water. Sufficiently challenging overall. The turf conditions were not great, but I attribute that to recent weather conditions. The pro shop staff was very friendly. However, the cart attendant and beverage cart girl were borderline rude. I would play it again because of the layout. I would not expect to make friends with the help.
Good Course, Great Value - Country Club feel
The right rating for this course would be 4.5 - I can't quite give it a 5 (have to reserve that for a select few), and it's better than a 4 - but its definitely one of my favorite courses in the area.
Played the Diplomat on a Saturday afternoon and it was very enjoyable. There weren't a ton of people on the course, so managed to get around in about 3 hours - always good. A slower couple let us play through - everyone we came in contact with was very friendly. Course is in great shape - greens are in great condition - not perfect, but very good.
It's somewhat of a classic design - walkable if you choose (assume they allow it but not sure). Fairly short course even from the tips, but still wound up hitting most clubs in my bag. I wouldn't say it's extremely demanding, but there are a few trouble spots that you may not see if you haven't played it before. Course has GPS which helps, but still the water is more in play on a couple holes than it appears. #16 is a perfect example. Reachable par 5 , dogleg right with OB right. That would suggest you hit down the left side of the fairway, but there's a larger than it appears pond on the left. So I hit what I thought was a perfect drive in the left side of the fairway and it kicked into the water. A little unfair, but I'll remember it for next time. Most of the other holes, the trouble is more obvious.
$60-70 is very reasonable for the quality of course, which is what I paid. Even up to $100 is say is worth it.
Anyway, definitely a course you have to play in the area. Gives you country club feel, without the exclusivity.
One of the nicest courses in South Florida
Had a very nice time playing this course. The location is great and staff super friendly. Got there early with some time to hit the range before playing my round, the range was nice and included range balls. Once ready the golf cart was loaded with a ice cooler with water and some towles, that alone was amazing. The course itself was very nice and one of the best in terms of condition. Enjoyed the layout and the challenges each one present. Overall I had a great time and would recommend to anyone to stop by. 9/10.
Excellent Choice for golf in Miami
Great club. Best value in Miami area. Excellent staff and facilities. Several really interesting holes with doglegs, risk/reward water issues, great sand. Food top notch. Will be back.
Nice resort course if You Receiver a good rate
Course is in Good Share andere Greenes Are fast! Staff was nicke andere friendly! Only Bad Thinge is that they want you to use the Valetta Parkingmeter witsch i personally do Not like! After i parkend by myself they quit woundered a Bit! Neverless nicke course!
Greens were fast and true
Our afternoon at the Diplomat was a very enjoyable experience! The attention from the staff was very good and we were pleased with the overall condition of the course. The greens, especially, were in very good condition and ran fast. A very pleasing course in its appearance also with nice facilities. It was surprising how quiet it was at a course that has a lot going on around it. We would definitely recommend it to our friends and play it again. Thinking about buying the summer 6-pack!
perfect course
Green was perfect , staff very pro , good welcom . see you soon
