About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business.
Located just off the beautiful Gold Coast, the Diplomat Golf and Tennis Club sprawls across a lush terrain covered with thousands of coconut and Royal palms. Towering banyans provide shade throughout the golf course as well. Although it is a public course, it has the look and feel of a private club. It has been a staple of the south Florida community since opening in 1957. The layout features interesting hole designs that incorporate raised greens framed by contoured mounding and more than 75 strategically placed sand bunkers. The water features are hard to miss seeing as they come into play on all but two holes. The golf course is a challenge but not too intimidating for less experienced players. The beautiful scenery alone will be well worth the round.

In the summer, what a deal.
This course is spectacular. It is above average. Alot of water and bunkers and it is very well kept. In the winter you can't touch it at 175$-Green Fee. But in the summer, you can play it for like 30$-40$ with the cart. Best deal in industry of golf, bar none. I love this course. Everybody who I have taken has loved it.
very nice course for offseason
this course could be expensive at high season, but now is time to play. We had 7 am time and finished in 2h45 min. Almost felt sorry for my self that did not spend much time playing:)
Fun track
Played three times in one week. The greens were in good shape and the fairways as well even with all the rain they have been having. Everyone in the pro shop was super friendly. Only sour note was we left a cooling towel in one of the coolers in the cart and after it went in for cleaning it mysteriously vanished. So just make sure you check your cart after your round as their lost and found leaves much to be desired.
The Diplomat
This is a course with a great layout, outlandish facilities and very well maintained grounds.
I really liked the course
First time on this course, didn't appreciate having to valet but that cost was offset by not just a free bucket of balls but as many as you wish. The course plays a bit narrow on some holes with a few very tough ball placements. Gotta love the island green on 2, free water bottle in cooler on golf cart with towel and nice gps system with hole flyovers.
I play miami beach often, nice course but none of the amenities I just mentioned except for GPS system which is not as good as the diplomat's.
Would recommend and plan on going back.
Favorite local course
Love this course. Each hole is a different challenge. Kept in excellent shape, friendly helpful staff, beautiful facilities, greens are pretty fast and roll true. With the rates on GN, a great value.
Starter and rental club bad
The starter is verry bad, the golf club is ok but for 50$ I thing saoule beau have , tower for clean the club , good 52 or 56 weedge and quality bag,
Westin diplomat
Great overall course. Fairways great shape. Amenities excellent. Valet parking only and not included
very good course
Course is in very good shape and not a bad deal for the money. Friendly staff and very knowledgeable. looking forward to playing again soon.
Pace of play is hit & miss
Last week I teed off at 11:30AM. At the turn I was already 2 hours & 45 min into the round. I quit after 9, very frustrated. This week I teed off at 7:15AM & was done in about 3 hours. We were a twosome however. The issue is that this course offers dumb rates; $30 including cart & range balls, this for a top notch championship level course. At $30 you have too many 'golfers' show up that should not be playing this type of course. I am not trying to be a golf snob, I'm an 18 handicap myself. However, I can get through the course in 4 hours playing boggie golf. Unfortunately, the course also doesn't seem to apply their own rules of keep pace, (advertised at 4:19 pace), or you will be asked to skip holes. Pace has been hit or miss at this course. I have played 5 hour rounds here before. It's unfortunate that pace, being the single most important challenge that golf faces today, could be fixed so easily, & yet not many courses, including this one, seem to want to make the effort.
Rain spoiled a great round of golf
Weather decided not to cooperate on Saturday and the rain cam down long and lengthy for much of the day. Called course prior to start and they indicated no one going on so we had our tee time cancelled. We will do this again next month and are looking forward to playing what promises to be a very challenging course..
Diplomat Golfing Review - 7/24/2014
Course was in very good shape, even with all the recent rain. (We were cart path only but not much of an inconvenience).
Pace was very good until they let a foursome in on the turn, which caused a likely well under 4 hour round become a 4:45 round and we had to wait on every shot, as the guys they let cut in struggled a bit. (Trying to be polite).
Excellent resort course
This is an excellent resort course and facility. Course in great shape, staff very friendly and attentive.
The carts have system where they track your movement everywhere...on 2 holes we were surprised when cart lost power, turns out the holes were cart path only. Why not put a sign on the tee box and/or the screen instead?
There is only valet parking, which of course has a minimum additional fee.
Course In Great Shape
Greens were punched semi-recently, but doesn't really affect the roll at this point. A couple tee boxes were a little rough, otherwise tee boxes and fairways in good shape as well. A small storm came by right before our round, but, even with the rain, the course didn't feel wet at all. Would definitely recommend right now. However, without Golfnow BOGO deal, course is way too expensive otherwise (in my opinion).
5 hour round
Way too long to play especially in 90 degree weather. Had to wait each and every hole. Beer is $6
plus tip. Not a good combination. Even with a discounted rate through Golfnow, way overpriced in every department. Will not be back.
Course was wet
Due to rain the course had a great of standing water. Driving range was not open . Normally a better playing experience.
Staff is helpful
Diplomat is a great facility
Awesome course - staff is fantastic - they take care of you start to finish. The gentleman in the pro shop set my buddy up with a great rental set and was very helpful. Great pro shop atmosphere - great people. We will definitely be back. Matt M
No play
Course was car path only, no practice range, poncture greens....
No play
Review
Said to include range balls but range was closed. Could only valet car, no self parking and then charge $7. Pace of play was on track for over 5 hours, ok ranger. Greens aerated so price was good but at full price I would never pay what they are asking. Staff was somewhat friendly
