About
Orangebrook Country Club in Hollywood boasts two 18-hole courses, the East and the West. The golf courses are about equal in difficulty but each offers a different set of challenges. The West Course was added over 20 years after the original East Course, which was built in the 1930s. This newer layout has more water hazards and there are also several massive bunkers treacherously lurking about the greensides. The challenging elements are nicely balanced by wide-open, player-friendly fairways and small greens with few breaks. The golf course is overall very forgiving but it offers interesting risk-reward opportunities that will appeal to players of all skill levels. In addition to the two golf courses, Orangebrook C.C. boasts extensive practice facilities that include a spacious lighted driving range with distance markers and a practice bunker.

Poor Conditions
I'm always amazed how some courses are allowed to blatantly rob patrons who want to play a good quality round of golf. This course needs to just postpone use until the planned upgrades are done. Until then, your just beeing fleeced. If not, twilight rates should be set at $16 from 3pm. Morning rates no higher than $30. Anything more would be ridiculous to spend.
From tee to green, conditions are horrible. Just close it for now. A beautiful layout deserves to be treated much better than it is now.

Burnt Greens
I last played OB west early this summer and the course was in decent shape. Greens were slow but rolled true, fairways and tees were fine. Unfortunately theyve let the grass on the greens die! Yesterday, the greens were a combo of dirt, sand, crabgrass, with a little bermuda. Too bad cause its a nice layout, and they had cut the rough down to a manageable height. Hopefully they find a way to bring the greens back to life in time for the winter season.

Could be great but….
First time playing this course was really shocked at the $35 green fee. I had heard some good things about it but the course has really been let go. The grass was way too tall and the fairways were you couldn’t tell the difference between French and Fairway. putting greens were in the worst shape. I’ve seen a Florida course in quite a while. They definitely need to start taking care of them.
Staff was pretty friendly, but wouldn’t recommend getting any food from the clubhouse either. Layout was decent, not too narrow with some challenging holes if they were just to shut this course down and really revive it and take care of it it could easily be a $60-$80 course.

Heading downhill or just off peak maintenance?
Not sure if it’s just the off-season, but the greens were horrible….where there was green. Rough was also tough due to inconsistent mowing. Played here plenty of times….Love the course….just seemed run down.

Not bad for a Sunday
Prior reviews criticized the staff as unfriendly and indifferent. My wife and I found them hospitable, personable and helpful. The course needs attention: greens are inconsistent, some ok, some not. Rough needs mowing and edging. Cart paths are a little rough in places. Some traps had rakes, most did not. Fairways were good, tees ok, carts were fine. The layout is good for first-timers playing the course. It was also good that we were paired with two young men that play here often. It made for an enjoyable Sunday round. And the price was right!

Very Good Experience
I have played OrangeBrook West many times and this particular experience was very positive. Pace of play was good (3hr 19min),
it was hot and humid (3p tee time & summer time in Miami), the greens were very fast which was unusual for OrangeBrook where they typically are slower and in ok condition but this time there were really cut down, fast and had some patchy/bumpy parts but the fairways were in the best condition I have ever seen them, really nice. Overall a very positive experience and for $30 at twilight, good bargain for golf in South Florida.

Worth a try
It was a good experience, but our cart ran out fo battery when we had about 10 minutes left to the club house. The person i was with had to push it back to the club house we were close enough we thought it would be silly to call. We had a good experience up to this and this put a damper on the day- it was already super hot, they were not very empathetic to the fact we had to push the cart 10 minutes back to the club house.
