Melreese Golf Course at International Links
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 03/2023.
The Melreese golf course at International Links is where Tiger Woods made his first professional appearance in south Florida. The championship course, which has six sets of tees, features rolling fairways and large, undulating greens. It is a tight golf course featuring five lakes that come into play on 14 holes. To make up for the damages caused by Hurricane Andrew, the golf course has been outfitted with replanted tall live oak and palm trees that can affect shots. There are also nearly 100 sand bunkers present on the course. The Melreese course's signature hole is the par-4 14th, which is nicknamed "Heartbreak Ridge." It has water alongside the right side of the fairway all the way from the tee to the green, and it requires an approach shot past water to an island green. The International Links facility also offers a lighted driving range and putting green.

if you like low flying planes.....
we didn't know that we would be playing right behind a tournament when we booked on golf now. anyway round was long 445 to play. liked the course, was in great shape. as it is close to airport, low flying planes all day that some might not like but I did. aside from pace of play would play the course again.
Greens and Fairways
Greens and faways were remarkably nice considering the public course feel to it. Driving range was off of old mats and for the price should include some range balls (which were in really poor condition). This was a very slow day so I got around quickly but as a single I had to ask to play through a few groups even though they were playing in slow motion. People also don’t seem to fix ball marks on the greens. Fortunately not many people on the course. I would go to this course in a pinch but wouldn’t be excited about it.
Excellent
Excellent course, the only course within the City of Miami limits, and it will be destroyed soon. Enjoy it while it last, the options to City of Miami residents are very few and limited. Theses are a few relatively close courses; Miami Springs sucks, Biltmore over priced, Doral too much money, Miami Beach area they all ridiculously over priced as well... Miami Shores and Shula’s are about the only ones at this time that are comparable as far fees and quality of the course.
WHAT A SHAME! But I guess money talks and politicians want to ingratiate themselves with the Beckham soccer group. By the way that stadium will never work there, wait until the novelty wears off.
Was expecting more
Staff is friendly, course is always tough, which is good.
I did not however enjoy the round for the following reasons:
1- Greens were just done, yet they charged full price. If you played this course before the greens are part of the experience, so it was a let down.
2- the first tee kids take over the first few holes of the course, so was not quite a good start given the lack of communication as to where they are and having to skip few holes and start from hole 5 or 6
I like the course and feel bad that it was not as good of an experience as I had expected or hoped. So, If you live around north Miami then might be better to travel up north and have plenty of courses to play especially for the price. Golfers who live further south have limited options I guess.
Big surprise
Being totally honest I wasn’t expecting a whole lot from a course so close to an airport. Green fee for non resident was pretty steep.
However, this is a great layout. Fun undulating greens that were in great condition, fairways were very consistent and well maintained.
7270 off the tips was fierce but makes sense knowing it’s a PGA LatAm qualifying location.
Really really enjoyed this place and was even able to get a shower before heading to the airport.
Great course!
Golf course is in great shape, from the fairways, sand traps to the perfect greens! Nice practice area as well and great food at the restaurant!
Good Shape
Bring your Short A game...the greens are a challenge, tough pin placements. Very open, easy to find your ball, watch out for incoming balls from next hole players.
Nice challenging course
I really like this coarse
It’s long from the back tees but not allot of trouble off the tee box
The greens roll well and are not so fast
I golf allot and recommend this course (it’s a fun course)
See you again
Criminally under rated. One of the best maintained in South FL
I'd played here years ago about 6 months after the renovation. The course was pretty pristine back then, and it's barely changed years later.
I've yet to play Doral post renovation, and I've not played Biltmore now it has reopened. But this is the BEST maintained golf course in Miami I have played - and I have played the rest.
The design is brilliant, given the land. Hard pressed to carve out a better course on the property. It's not my favourite design in Miami (Miami Shores owns that honour) but like I said, given how mundane the piece of property is (dead flat) they have done a great job with the layout.
It will be a shame if the city decides to build on this course, it's something I expect Miami to do but I hope I am wrong.
If you have not played here then you are missing out. The practice facility is pretty good for the area - large putting green, double sided range, at the back of the range is a chipping green and bunker.
On the bunkers - full of white sand, very consistent from what I observed.
Greens fast for the area, but receptive. Very undulating - not quite Davie levels, but that extreme in places and harder to read IMO.
My only complaint is the people running the course are pretty clueless. I tried to play here 2 years ago, and they had the tee times backed up for HOURS. Myself and another guy visiting got our money back and left. There was a queue on the first tee, and they were going out well beyond their tee time.
Today, the course wasn't busy. However, the starter didn't really know what he was doing and the pro shop was no better. Lots of confusion regarding who was playing with who and at what time, and where they were. And messing up starter slips etc.
Bit of a joke, but the course is a delight and the staff are generally friendly - just a bit incompetant..
Great Municipal Track
This was my first time playing here, I visit from Orlando often and usually play at the Biltmore. I decided to give this course a try after reading reviews on Golf Now, and I was not disappointed. As municipal tracks go this place is in Excellent shape! I have played a couple of dozen municipal courses over the years in my travels and this one is top shelf. The greens were excellent, the fairways cut just right, honestly I have played a few semi private clubs that were not in nearly as good as shape as this place. It seems there is a push to make this place a soccer stadium and end this great courses 50 year run. In my opinion that would be a real crime, I love soccer but this is a great place for a round of golf and it should not be bulldozed. At the end of the day go play this course you will not be disappointed hopefully it will be around for years to come.
Fantasy hideaway
Great course! Fairways were immaculate and the greens should match in a couple of weeks. Pace of play was a bit slow, but weather played a part, so understandable. The 19th hole was great and service was friendly. Wish I would have found this gem sooner.
Great Municipal
First time playing this course last weekend, it's probably my favorite municipal in the area now. The conditions were very good and I enjoyed the layout. Staff was super friendly. Overall, no complaints and I definitely recommend.
Paradise at the handle
If you’re in the area or a local you already know this course is fire. From the layout, staff to the scenery you will get what you’re looking for. Fairways are above well kept , Greens are fast and , have double reads (not common in Miami) for you low HC and staff is courteous. A+ the Convenience Cart comes around quite often.
Oh,,,,, Paradise at the handle = its your putter .
Play better than well!
Beautiful layout
Do not let D Beckham take over this pristine course.
We need green areas and not a jungle of cement.
No to soccer and yes to golf.
This is a beautiful course do not destroy our golf course.
Pace of play-Ranger
Played in a threesome behind a foursome of young men. They were decent players but incredibly slow particularly on the greens. By the turn they had a 2 hole gap in front of them. We waited on every shot. When asked they would not let us play through. Although we did see a ranger at the clubhouse, we never saw him on the course. I quit after 16 when they invited the cart girl to play the par 3 sixteenth hole with them. Their carts were stewn with beer cans. I spoke with the staff when done who justified their 4:45-4:50 round, saying they were regulars and it was the weekend. Not with a 2 hole gap in my book. The course was fine, but until they reel those guys and those like them in, it’s a bIg no go for me
