Hillcrest Golf Club is situated between Ft. Lauderdale and Miami, sprawling across a lush landscape accented with water features and mature trees. Unlike many other south Florida golf courses that suffer from heavy summer rains, it is easy to get a tee time at Hillcrest throughout the year. Originally opened as a private club in 1965, the championship course opened for public play in 1999. That same year it received an extensive renovation overseen by Joe Lee. In addition to improving all of the tee boxes, Lee added contoured mounding, new lakes, and sand traps. Water has a prominent presence throughout the golf course but strategically placed bunkers demand just as much attention. The course offers many interesting challenges throughout that culminate with the signature 18th hole. This demanding par-4 has a breathtaking island green that is surrounded by an intimidating bulkhead.
